A little light. A lesson for life.
My Shade Parade began with a simple idea: show our boys what it takes to build something of their own. Through this small lesson in entrepreneurship, we’re helping them discover how an idea becomes something people value, how care goes into every customer experience, and how a thoughtfully chosen product can bring a little happiness into someone’s home.

Our story also connects to another young entrepreneur. We imported these lamps from the Philippines through a teenage student who won a small business competition. Each lamp pairs a sturdy welded wire frame with a handcrafted shade made from layers of mosaic paper. Every shade is unique, with colors and patterns that come alive when the light shines through.
For our boys, these lamps are part of everyday life, brightening their rooms and the places where they read, create, and dream. Sharing that feeling with other families is what makes this venture meaningful to us. They also get to pitch in along the way: sorting inventory, stocking products, selling to friends in the neighborhood, and, of course, modeling for this website.
